***DRAFT***
The 2009 Drafts will start Saturday, August 1 at 12:00 AM CST
***ONLINE DRAFT is ALWAYS a normal 1-12 1-12 1-12 1-12 draft (not a snake draft) and will include a
24 hour timer.
Draft Order
Picks 1-6 in the draft are designated by reverse order of regular season finish (6 non-playoff teams)...worst team drafts first and so on down the list (normal tie breakers apply).
Picks 7-12 are designated as reverse order of finish in the playoffs. For example, worst of the two round 1 losers (by record, normal tie breakers apply) receives the # 7 pick. The other team to lose in round 1 of the playoffs receives the #8 pick. This continues through the playoffs until we have a Conference Champion who receives the #12 pick.
***SETUP***
Number of Franchises: 24
Number of Conferences: 2
Number of Divisions: 6
***ROSTERS***
Number of Roster Spots: 16
Starting lineups
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 Def
1 K
***FORUM RULES***
While you are expected to be cordial and respectful to other owners in the league...no crybabies allowed.
***KEEPERS AND TRADING***
Each owner will announce their four(4) keepers on or before May 31 (you are allowed to choose your keepers from the players that were on your roster as of the start of week 12 games...and they must remain on your roster through the end of the current season). The other (non-kept) players on your roster go back into the draft pool.
Trading then begins on June 1, each franchise being left with (4) keepers...and (4) keepers only. Once trading begins you can trade any of your keepers to another team in your conference for players and/or picks, but you will not be able to access anyone from your old roster. The exception...you will be allowed to change (1) keeper one time between June 1 and (on or before) August 1 at 8:00 AM CST (One hour before the drafts start) at your own discretion, although, you can only swap out a player you traded for if he sustains an injury/suspension and is expected to be out (4) weeks or more. If you trade one of your keepers for picks only...you would be left with only (3) keepers going into the draft...and the other team would obviously have (5).
Trading Deadlines
You may not start trading until June 1.
Trading ends at the beginning of the first game of week 12.
Trade Process
Trades must be entered into the mfl website and then posted on the message board...both owners having posted their acceptance. Once this occurs, the trade will be finalized and processed within 24 hours. If the trade seems like collusion to anyone, they should post in the forum (in the trade confirmation thread) to start an open dialogue. If it comes to the point of needing a vote for collusion, owners from the OTHER conference will vote. If the majority of owners (7) deem it to be collusion...the trade will be null and void and penalties will be considered.
Trading Picks
You may only trade picks from the next draft and the following draft (2008 and 2009 at this point), although, you must pay 1/2 a years entry fee ($50) for each of the future years you plan to trade pick's away. This is non-refundable...but does, obviously, count towards the next years entry fee.
***MONEY***
Due Dates and Fees
$100 will be due on or before August 1. It's only $100 so it shouldn't be too bad (but simply let me know if you have any issues).
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRADE OR DRAFT WITHOUT YOUR MONEY IN.

***PLAYOFF SEEDINGS***
The 1 and the 2 seeds from each conference receive a bye in the first round, which entitles these teams to automatically advance to the second round, the Divisional Playoff games, to face the Wild Card survivors. Unlike most tournaments, with a predetermined bracket, each round of the playoffs is 're-seeded'; the highest surviving seed always hosts the lowest surviving seed, the second-highest hosts the second-lowest, etc.
>>>Playoff Brackets can be seen here<<<
***TRANSACTIONS***
Free agents will be available first come first serve. Transactions can be made 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Once a player is dropped he will remain locked for 24 hours before becoming a free agent...he is then available to the league first come first serve. Players on lock can be seen by viewing the "Locked Players Report" link on the waivers page.
***FILLING LINE-UPS***
Transactions are free so all line-ups should be filled. If you think you might miss setting your lineup, call me and I can do it for you.
The following seasonal penalties will be had for not setting a full lineup:
1st time - public schellacking on the message board
2nd time - loss of a 6th round draft pick
3rd time - loss of a 4th round draft pick
4th time - 4 times in a year and we probably need someone else in charge of the team
Certain bye week issues will be fine...like starting a Kicker or TE on bye...even thought it is completely unnecessary.
